PRESENTATION: Empowerment Soccer

After 3 months of hard work in Uganda, Matthew Kennedy and Margaret Chang have returned to tell of their experience. Told from a perspective forged by the challenges they faced it is a story about people, hope, and one's ability to create a better life for one's self and community. Their's will be the story of the Empowerment Soccer Project: 2009.

Implemented in Namuwongo, Uganda, an urban slum located just 10 minutes south-east of Uganda's capital city of Kampala, Matt and Margaret directed an 8 week sport based life-skills program. Their experience was far different than what they had expected and they believe that extreme poverty is a problem that can be solved, but not before one understands that individual efforts can and often do make a difference.

Come for all or part of the presentation. See the pictures. Watch the films. Ask your questions. There will also be hand made crafts available to purchase. The women and men who made them will recieve 90% of the profit.
